What To Bring?
You will need a bag for your belongings…bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, etc. Please be advised: spray on sunscreen is not permitted on the boat because the over spray causes the deck to become slippery. You may use lotion sunscreen at any time. If you have your own snorkel equipment you are welcome to bring it. We do have equipment on board for you to use, no extra charge. Yes, the mask & snorkels are cleaned and sanitized between each use. You will NOT need water shoes.
Can I wear glasses or contact lenses?
Absolutely! Since you are entering the scooter slow enough, you can leave your glasses right on your face. If you chose to wear contacts, just close your eyes and the diver will help guide you into the scooter.
How deep do you go?
Once we descend the BOSS unit, your head will be 8 ft below the water surface at all times.
Will the BOSS unit harm the environment?
The BOSS unit is completely environmentally friendly. The unit is propelled by an electric motor attached to a 12 volt sealed battery and switch. Therefore, there are no emissions going into the water at all.
How long have you been operating?
Ocean Connections has been in operation since 2013. We have safely taken 1000’s of guests on the BOSS Underwater Adventure.
Can anyone do the BOSS Underwater Adventure?
We have taken many people ranging from 10 year old to 80 years young however, we have a minimum age of 10 and a minimum height of 4 feet. As long as you are in good physical health and can complete a medical questionnaire, you will be a perfect candidate for BOSS.
Can the BOSS unit tip over?
No. The BOSS unit is designed to where it cannot tip over.
Do I need to know how to swim?
You do not need to know how to swim to participate in the BOSS Underwater Adventure. The staff are certified Dive Masters and Dive Instructors; they will be with you throughout the tour. For our non-swimmers, the BOSS unit will be brought to the port side of the vessel and you will be helped in and out of the unit. You are NEVER left alone.
What is the temperature and visibility of the water like?
The Caribbean Sea is very beautiful; the visibility ranges between 50-100 ft depending on the current weather. The average water temperature around the island of Roatan is 85 degrees.
How do we enter the water from the boat?
The Princessa del Mar is equipped with 2 large metal ladders attached to the port side of the boat. Each ladder has 5 steps and handrails.
Will I be able to do this if I'm missing a limb?
Yes! We have one left-handed scooter available; just inform us before your adventure! Those who have a prosthetic leg we ask to make sure that it doesn’t float when submerged in water.
Is the BOSS wheelchair accessible?
No. We are sorry to say that our boat is not designed for wheelchairs.
